Secondary Teacher (English and Literature)

Lauren is an enthusiastic educator from the USA with over ten years’ of experience teaching in secondary schools. Since graduating with a B.A. Linguistics from the University of Michigan, she has earned a post-graduate teaching certificate with Moreland University and completed Cambridge IGCSE and A-level literature courses. She is also a published poet and volunteer with the Singapore National Library.

Lauren believes that the best classrooms are both effective and engaging. To remain effective, she teaches in ways that connect with a variety of learning preferences and focus on 21st-century skills and real-world concepts that contextualise the ‘why?’ of every activity. Tasks are presented with options for additional support or challenges, so every learner achieves growth. To remain engaging, she designs her lessons around learners’ own interests and goals, working as a facilitator to encourage the diverse motivations they find within themselves.
